My past and present work experience includes working with a variety of populations who have different challenges and disabilities.

Pre-Rehab

Before surgery or medical intervention, patients can improve their health to prepare. We need a certain level of strength and fitness to be able to handle and recover from the procedures we might need. Pre-rehabilitation programs focus on flexibility training, pain management, strength and conditioning. My clients use these programs to get ready for surgeries, joint replacement, or any cardio intervention.

Rehabilitation

  • I have worked with clients who are recovering from various challenges. My cardiac patients include people recovering from:
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Injury
  • Surgery
  • Smoking addiction
  • Alcohol consumption

Heart Disease

Heart disease is one of the biggest killers of Canadians and it is preventable! If we address the risk factors, we can often reverse cardiovascular issues and prevent disease. Many of my clients are addressing multiple risk factors and avoiding serious issues before they develop.

Mental Health Challenges

  • The mental health clients I have worked with before at the YMCA Burrard location were experiencing:

Prevention

Many clients benefit from improving their health before they become ill or injured, and so many challenges can be prevented all together. I work on:

  • Fall prevention for elderly clients
  • Injury prevention and improved ability to recover
  • Muscle loss prevention for non-active clients
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Weight management

Referrals

If clients come to me with challenges that would benefit from other areas of expertise, I have my specialist contacts to refer to. I hope to support the overall well being of my clients, and make use of my community to provide the best service.
